DA VINCI "REBEL" LAUNCHED WITH INNOVATION AND DESIGN

It is with great pleasure TEK CANADA OPTICAL provide you with our newest look for DA VINCI. The Da Vinci "REBEL" collection is a youthful blend of colour and design that encompasses the quality that reflects the tradition of the Da Vinci name.

This collection was enhanced with the hiring of a design and architecture team, headed by Natalie Cooper, of women aged 18 to 33 to implement the colour and design strategies for the collection. The original 12 styles have taken over 9 months to meet the exacting standards set forth by the design team. Many focus groups and implementing of changes have resulted in a truly Canadian designed spectacle.

It is with this dedication of innovation that TEK OPTICAL and all its associates wish you much success with our newest and most exciting collection.

SPICY EYES AND DA VINCI - MADE IN ITALY

Interesting facts about origins of optical frames and accessories:

- Optical frames arriving into Canada do not have to have the stamp of origin of the country where it is made. That is why we have frames that have stamps like the following:

FRAME CANADA
FRAME ITALY
DESIGN CANADA
DESIGN ITALY
ITALIAN DESIGN
CANADIAN DESIGN

- Most of the Optical frames and accessories that are supplied into the Canadian market place are from Asia and more specifically, the Republic of China.

- The fact is that if a frame is made in a particular country, the frame has to be marked with "MADE IN" i.e. "MADE IN ITALY". This means that the frame was 100 % manufactured in that particular country.

- Suppliers do this so that they can achieve and demand greater margins and prices for their products, through deception and misrepresenting the product and its origin. Products may look similar to the Spicy Eyes and DaVinci frames, but they have in actuality been produced with poorer quality and standards. These products may even be priced higher despite the fact that they are produced at 1/20th of the cost of a quality crafted product made in Italy, Germany or Japan - countries recognized for their quality and craftsmanship in the industry for centuries.

-TEK OPTICAL in cooperation with Italy is now embarking on an aggressive campaign to alienate the cheaters by marking on the demonstration lenses "100 % MADE IN ITALY" on all the DA VINCI AND SPICY EYES COLLECTIONS and that will also have the Italian Flag embossed on the demonstration lenses.

If you're any sort of hockey fan, you probably noted the media attention in March surrounding the devastating high-sticking injury suffered by Toronto Maple Leafs' defenceman Bryan Berard.

In the wake of the injury, experts from a number of professional groups, including your own Canadian Association of Optometrists, led the charge for mandatory eye and face protection for all NHL players. CAO continues to lobby the league to adopt the protective eyewear, as it has done for the last several years.

CAO has also received information about a new invention for players requiring visual correction: TEK Canada, a Canadian eyewear manufacturer, has launched a prescription hockey guard called the TEK Hockey Gard. The guard, made of clear acetate, is manufactured to fit securely under a hockey helmet and is worn in conjunction with face shields.
